Snow and Pines on YUPO

Well, this is the latest installment in the "snow" series. This painting is 7" x 13" and is painted on YUPO paper with watercolors. I haven't painted much on YUPO paper, so this is me still in the experimental stage with it.

We are supposed to be in for a storm this week so there will probably be more paintings in the "snow" series! :-)

Interesting effect you have achieved with Yupo. And I hope you don't get too much snow!

I think this is another gorgeous winter scene, Barb. I am so loving these!

I can't believe I am offering anything that sounds like advice to you, but with Yupo I think negative painting (the shadows that shape the snow drifts) works less well than painting the whole shadow area in varying values of the shadow color and then lifting out the snow shapes. I watched an artist buddy work with Yupo last week and she painted Indigo blue all over the paper, then swirled it around here and there. She then started lifting out the shapes of a lighthouse, rocky cliffs and clouds and it was magnificent when finished.

I love your trees, Yupo lends itself very well to evergreens.
