This is a small painting that I did last night from a picture of a pear which I photographed on my kitchen counter in the light coming through the venetian blinds. I was taken with the abstract shapes and patterns created by the shadows and reflections. This painting is 5" x 7" and is painted on 140 lb. Arches cold-pressed watercolor paper.
I have decided to start a new blog which will feature - hopefully- a creative work a day. These works may be drawings, watercolors, oils or mixed media and the purpose of this is to make myself create something every day. I have lofty plans - and I will try to follow them. There may be days when it will be impossible to create something - but hopefully, that won't happen too often.

Ooooo, I love this!!! The light, the color in the shadows, the warms against the cools, everything about it. Do let us know when your new blog is up and running and good luck - it's hard to do something every day so don't be tough on yourself if you slip now and again. You paint in so many mediums, I imagine you could be doing a painting in every medium at the same time!
I love the play of light and shadows! I now paint every day, but do not complete one art work a day:-) I am really looking forward to your new blog. But, Rhonda is right - don't be too hard on yourself!
Gorgeous! I love how the colors mingle so beautifully and of course the light!! WOW!
Thanks, Rhonda...I am so glad that you like it. My new blog is: www.barbsdailycreations.blogspot.com
I would be honored to have you check it out! I added my first post today.
Christiane - Thanks for your comments. I will probably not have a new painting a day, but will try.
jgr...I also like the light in this one - probably it's strongest feature. Thanks so much for commenting.
This is gorgeous. You've certasinly captured that stunning quality of light. Good luck with the ambitious new blog!
Gillian...thanks for your generous comments. The new blog is up - check it out! www.barbsdailycreations.blogspot.com
Yes, I too love the design element of this work with all the shapes of light from the window blind. Good luck with your daily plan.
Joan...The design elements in my photo are what first caught my eye - the abstract patterns and beautiful light - it was just begging to be painted:)
Tha daily blog is designed to keep me painting - daily - the works will not be finished paintings, but experiments in media in which I try to express my impressions of what is around me - both things and people.
