Floral Study

This floral study was painted from a photograph taken in my friend Marge Brand't studio some time ago.  It is approximately 22" x 14" and is painted on 140 lb. Arches cold-pressed watercolor paper.  I particularly like the way the drapery and the background worked out - you know you never know when you start a large wash if you will be able to control all the little  subtle variations in shadow and light without too many blooms, etc.  The flowers were from my friend Patty's garden.  She always has beautiful flowers.

Barb, this is stunning! I love the non-traditional fall of the drape against the traditional vase of flowers. All are so well done, you are amazing!

Krista...thanks for commenting. I personally think the drapery is the strongest part of this painting and I am happy you like the palette in the rural reflections painting.

Barbra Joan...I always love to hear your remarks. You probably know that I like to pour my underpaintings very much and over a period of time I think that those are my strongest paintings. Thanks for commenting.
