This is another oil painting I did at Lakeside last month with the Ohio Plein Air Society painters. There is a real story connected to this one. First you have to know that parking is at a minimum there and something came up and we had to move the car - which was in a premium parking place right in front of where we were staying. So - I set up my easel and chair in the center of the parking spot and proceded to paint the side entrance while my friend took the car on her errand. Actually - I am really fond of the resulting painting - it brings back great memories and some laughs too!
The painting is a small oil -7"x5" and is painted on a canvas panel.

Anything that makes one laugh is a winner, Barb. I love these old wooden screen doors; they are a piece of art unto themselves. So many images of country living, simpler times...all from this delightful piece...
Autumnleaves...I agree wholeheartedly about the laughter - so important! These old doors bring back childhood memories - especially the slamming of the door behind you as you enter or exit - and grandma yelling "Don't let the door slam ...!"
you are amazing....to make an ordinary door a focal point and sooooo beautiful. and to create so many paintings in short periods of time to last for long periods of time :) you are amazing.

Barb, I love the story behind this delightful painting! Somehow this painting produces an effect of serene calm.
I have just bought myself some oils and have been playing with them...without much success however.
Christiane...the oils are so different from the watercolors, aren't they? I started out as an oil painter and then went to watercolors about 15 years ago. I prefer the watercolors, actually!
