Muses Visit the Dayton Art Institute

On Wednesday, March 31st, our Thursday painting group, the Muses Mix Media, visited the Dayton Art Institute to view the California Plein Air Painters Show. It was spectacular! Such an impressive show! After the show we ate lunch at the Cafe Monet before leaving for home. We had a wonderful time and lunch was delicious, too. Our server was kind enough to take our picture.

What a fun day! Wish I was there...A while back I read a novel that spoke often of the California Plein Aire movement. I'd never heard of it before, and at that time, I hadn't realized there was such a thing as 'plein aire,' even though I could figure it out by the translation. So cool and I'd have loved to see that California plein aire works!

AutumnLeaves...the show was absolutely beautiful - not only were the paintings painted by wonderfully talented artists, but the paintings reflected the area and light where they were painted. The colors were warm and the subjects clearly "Californian!" Great show. Yes - it would have been nice to have you with us.
