I just finished this palette knife painting of a rooster this afternoon. This is painted from a photograph taken by my friend Deb Holmes while she was visiting the Florida Keys! This painting is 8" x 10" and is painted on a canvas panel. This colorful rooster is really this colorful - unbelievable!

I think you should call this a patriotic rooster! Love it!
WOW! He is so vibrant, you did a great job.
He is stunning and the background done with the knife is so interesting!
Go....You colorful rooster! I do like this rooster, Barb; good rendering and out of this world colors!
Is there nothing you can't do, Barbara? The texture is amazing! What a handsome fellow this guy is!
Cori Lynn...Yes - he does look sort of patriotic! :) Thanks!
jgr...there is one thing for certain sure...I do love color and that makes a vibrant painting -sometimes I love it too much! Oh well........nothing subtle about me! tee hee
Christiane...years ago I did a lot of knife painting in acrylics and then for many years painted almost exclusively in watercolor. Recently I have been working in oils and using the knife again - I had forgotten just how much I enjoyed the texture of knife painting - I agree with you - the knife texture can be very interesting.
Susan and AutumnLeaves - thank you so much for your comments - I am so glad you like my rooster!
I find your palette paintings fascinating!
Thanks, Ginny!
