King of the Roost

This is a small oil painting that I painted today - it is 7" x 5" ...painted on canvas panel. I really like roosters - they are so colorful. I am not accustomed to painting this small in oil - something I am trying to get used to. I am also trying to loosen up - believe it or not -this is loose for me...:)

He's a wild and crazy guy!! Very colorful, bright and I think just loose enough.

Barbara, with computer issues and a new computer that didn't have my favorites, I'd lost your blog. In revamping my blog yesterday, I discovered that I'd had it all along in my "Blogs I Follow" list. I am chagrined to know I've missed months of paintings! Still, makes for a wonderful time when I have a few minutes to sit and enjoy. The flower with the branch and leaves a few posts below is exquisite! And I love your rooster. Wish I could take one of your classes!

Barbara, this guy does not look too friendly, but he is beautifully painted. He stands out very well against the complementary color of the background.
