This is one of my attempts at painting with Yupo paper. I decided that this one would be loose. I started it at a workshop and finished it at home. I used halloween spiderwebbing stretched across the paper and then did my watercolor wash on top of the webbing. I like lots of color, so I used lots of color on the wash. After the wash dried, I removed the webbing and added the detailing with more watercolor. I also lifted areas of color for emphasis. I like Yupo because it forces me to be loose, but to be truthful, it really isn't me!

Barbara, isn't it a hoot to try something that is not you. You did a fabulous job! I have a few pieces I did on Yupo and I love the painterly results.
Have you ever tried Tyvek ala Myrna Wacknov?
Yes - I get a real charge trying new mediums and techniques. I would love to try the Tyvek that Myrna Wacknov works on so well, but haven't been able to find it here in Ohio without first purchasing a large amount. I only found it in reams of over 500 sheets. If you know where it can be found in smaller amounts, I would love to have that information.
Thanks for visiting!
Barb
I have tried yupo only once, and the results were not very good, although I really enjoyed trying something new.
Your foliage turned out beautifully on this painting and the bright colors are vibrant, full of life.
You may not feel that it is "you", but it is a very attractive painting.
Christiane...Thanks a lot for the comments on the foliage - I think the foliage is probably the strongest part of the painting.
I think it's fantastic Barbara, I've done some things on Yupo and it can be a wild ride!
fantastic technique but masking such large areas must be pain
Are you sure this isn't you?
WOW, I LOVE IT!!
Do you still have this piece? Would you consider selling it?
It's too bad this isn't you, because it's fantastic. I actually love this style and think you should really play around with it more. It's gorgeous!
