October Project painting for Watercolor Workshop

This is the painting for the Watercolor Workshop October project where everyone paints from the same picture. I took liberties with this one - there is no bird in the original photograph and this one has more intense color than the original. It is 1/8 sheet of Arches cold-pressed watercolor paper. This is a stylized, dreamy version of the original, also. I don't handle fall tree colors well, so naturally I am not too happy with this one. I guess I have said THAT before, haven't I? :)

Barbara, I am sure that adding the bird was a very good idea. Who says that you don't handle fall tree colors well? I think that this is very nice.

Gorgeous, Barbara! The tree colors are magnificant!

Sure Barb...you can't paint fall colors at all! I think the problem is you lean toward cool colors and fall colors are amped up warms, so in your mind's eye they don't look right. Well, your mind's eye is incorrect! This is just lovely and so well-done. That bird sells the painting, also...good addition.

Susan...You are correct that I like cool colors - I haven't looked at it in that perspective. That IS probably why I am uncomfortable with the warm colors of autumn. I was uncertain about adding the bird - I am glad it looks okay to others. I bought a frame this weekend for your SWAP painting - am going to hang it this afternoon.
