Flaming Birches

This will be the painting for our class project this coming Monday evening after we finish the Stargazer Lilies.  This painting is 12" x 9" and is painted on Acquerella 140 lb. cold-pressed watercolor paper.  The original concept is from a painting I saw on the internet, but I have changed the format considerably, and I will not show or sell this painting anyway...It is strictly for the lesson.  I think the painters will love this one.

Gorgeous colors, Barb!! Love those white birch tree trunks too.

Thanks, Sherry! I love birches! We don't have too many of them here in Ohio - I guess we aren't located far enough north or the elevation isn't high enough. Anyway, they don't do well here, although you do find a few here and there.

Hi, this is really amazing painting! Could you tell me please, did you apply the masking liquid to protect the trunks oftrees when washed the background?

Nice use of secondary triad!

Thanks,Victoria,
Yes, I applied masking fluid to protect the white of the trees so that I could do my colorful washes across the paper without worrying about protecting the trees.

Leslie,
I love this color scheme - especially the golds and the violets together and the mixtures and blends that come from them; and I am also partial to oranges and violets together, especially blue violet to get your nice darks with the oranges.

I, too, like this triad, Barb; especially for peaceful landscapes. This works on all levels!
