Watercolor is my passion. After teaching art in the public schools for 40 + years I now have time to create art for myself. I am a watercolorist who sometimes likes to work in mixed media as well. My journey in art began when I was a small child and continues to this day. Barbara Hart Sailor

The Graveyard (WIP)
Well - this is going slowly, but I still think I am making progress with this poured watercolor. This is watermedia - not watercolor, because I have poured with acrylic inks and I plan to use acrylics for the foliage and some of the final detailing even though I am using watercolor to define shadows and trees, etc. This is a large painting - almost a full sheet (22"x 30") and I sort of like the "in your face" qualities in the composition with the focal point falling in the area of the brightest and largest shape - the old yellow truck. I am enjoying this painting very much - of course I am always happy painting vintage cars and trucks!

I always enjoy seeing paintings in progress; looks like you are doing this one without outlining the shapes. Love the bright colors, and yet you know these are old cars. The yellow one is beautiful.
You just amaze me to be able to create these shapes from the blobs from the pour. I love how you do that, but think it must be magic somehow. It just works!
Oh I think it is looking fabulous, Barb! I love the distant foliage colors; so very autumnal, my favorite season! And I too love old cars and trucks.
Very nice!
Hi Deb,
I am happy to learn that you like to see paintings in progress. This one is taking some time because I am also teaching right now and that is taking up some of my time. You are correct - I didn't outline this one - sometimes I do and sometimes not...I think this one verges on the abstract and I plan to leave a lot of the shapes as they are. I also love the yellow one. Thank you.

Susan - it is not magic (lol) and right now it is driving me crazy. I am going to leave a lot of the shapes as simple shapes, so am just using negative painting to differentiate the simple shapes of the vehicles.
Thanks so much, Kathy!
