I finished this landscape of a farm this afternoon. This is from a photograph by my friend Pamela Baker, www.bakercreekdesigns.com. It is nice to have such a wonderful picture to use as a source. This farm is near Spencerville, Ohio.
The painting is 1/2 sheet of hot-pressed watercolor paper. This is watermedia, because there are a few touches of acrylic paint which I added at the end for the orange leaves on the trees and the foreground.
Pamela and I are having a joint show in October at Riverside Art Center in Wapakoneta, Ohio - her photos, and my interpretations of her photos. This will be one of the paintings in the show.

Oh boy! I especially love the trees, Barb. I can imagine playing amongst them as a kid!
Barb...this is just so wonderful. Very evocative of times on my grandparents' farm in Minnesota. Those trees have probably been there longer than the barn, and are such perfect sentinels.
Those trees are certainly awesome, aren't they - I played among trees like those also.
Thanks, Susan - I enjoyed painting those trees - they are so powerful and I love the way the sun was shining through the leaves onto the trunks. Minnesota huh? How did you end up in Arizona?
Barb...my mother's family were all in Minnesota, including my grandfather's farm. I was born and raised in Arizona, but we traveled to the farm to visit everyone every other summer. Lots of good memories!
