Table Setting with Rainbow

I painted this small piece this afternoon for the August project of Watercolor Workshop. The theme is to paint something shiny and so I selected a royalty free photo from Bing Images. This is 4" x 6" and is painted on 140 lb. Strathmore watercolor paper.

I also wish to share a photo I took about 15 minutes ago of a beautiful double rainbow I saw from my front porch - so inspiring and lovely.

I don't know which I like better! The painting is so good! I love the composition! And the rainbow is beautiful! You took a good photo, but still... rainbows are so fleeting and special, no photo or painting could ever really do them justice... you just have to be lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to catch one. I'm glad you did!

You really have captured the shine of the cutlery - a meticulous painting

What a wonderful job with one color on your palette, Barb. And wow! A double rainbow! You don't see those too often.

Katherine...thank you for your comments...I would not have captured the rainbow if my son had not called me and told me to take my camera outside. The photo doesn't do it justice - it was so intense.

Sharon, Sherry and Renate:
I am so happy you like my table setting painting. I always enjoy painting monochromatic paintings - even in art school when we had to do them as an exercise. It is a wonderful way to teach value to students and I have had my students do that many times! (whether they liked it or not! tee hee)
