This painting is for the Watercolor Workshop September project - paint something abandoned...so I had a photo I took one evening of a house that has been abandoned which is located on a remote county road in Logan County and decided to paint that. The painting is 9" x 12" and is painted on Canson 140 lb. cold-pressed watercolor paper.

Oh so beautiful, Barb. I once read a book called "The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane," by Katherine Howe. This piece just fits my imagination of the house in that book. Beautiful greens too! I always imagine who might have lived in these abandoned old places, if there is joy and laughter trapped within the walls, or despair and heartsickness.
I wonder the same thing - it is so interesting to think about the lives that were lived in these houses...if they could only talk!
Thanks for your comments!
Barb. I really like this painting. You know landscapes are not my forte although I try.. You seem to have that natural ability for it and this one is right on..
How I wish you had been MY teacher. !!! hugs, BJ
and oh yes I'll keep trying those landscapes, I might just get it right one day....
BJ - I still worry when I do a landscape - I am more comfortable doing florals/still lifes.
I wish I had been your teacher also - I always loved teaching students who were enthusiastic about their art - I will always love it when I see that spark in their eyes - when you connect with them...it is so fulfilling.
