This is another project from Joe Garcia's book "Mastering the Watercolor Wash." I used it as a class demonstration last night to demo wet-in-wet painting by saturating the paper first with water. I also demonstrated how to create the rushes by incising the wet paper with lines created by using the handle end of a small paintbrush, allowing the pigment to fill in. I finished it tonight. This painting is 8" x 10" and is painted on 140 lb. cold-pressed watercolor paper.

Beautiful work, Barb. I have used the handle of the brush etching technique and had good results. Wonder how I managed to forget that little gem??? LOL
Autumn Leaves...I, too, had forgotten about incising the wet paper when painting grasses! I wonder why our minds do that to us?!
Barb...the colors in this are just so amazing. Those geese add the tightness I need to see somewhere in your paintings, no matter how loose you are trying to be. I specially like the left, shadowy foreground, magical!
Ah.. this painting reminded of inevitable Fall coming soon.
Great color combination Barb.
Thank you,
Irina
