Watercolor Weaving

I decided to create in something other than paint today, so I took two reject paintings I had sitting in a sack and cut them in strips and wove them together.  One of them was a pink waterlily and the other was a crystal bowl painted monochromatically in red.  It gives a sort of nice complementary color contrast to the project with all the reds and greens.  My high school students always liked to weave their watercolors and they produced some beautiful weavings - much better than this one I will have to admit!  It was a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon.  I cut both watercolors to 8" x 10" and both paintings were done on 140 lb. cold-pressed watercolor paper.  This is a cool way to use rejected paintings!

A friend wove a painting for me - a chicken on a fence! I love it, but had not seen another one until yours here - which turned out great! I haven't had the courage to try this (yet???)!

From a red crystal bowl to a red lotus blossom! I loved your crystal bowl rendition and now I love this use you found for it. I keep looking at it and seeing more interesting shapes appear!

The colours really make this sing. A great way to recycle artwork. I haven't done any paper weaving for years!

Susan - if you remember, I did your crystal bowl several times because I taught your wonderful lesson, so I still have a painting in one piece. :) It is one of those projects where you keep looking and seeing! Your project just keeps on giving!!! Thanks again.
