Since I had the still life set up for yesterday's still life, I decided to do the same subject in watercolor. I will have to say that the oranges look more like oranges than indescriminate fruit like yesterdays...The painting was 9" x 12", but I cropped it to 8" x 8" and it is painted on 140 lb. cold pressed watercolor paper.

Barb, I liked yesterdays and I do like today's version. It does look like an orange; nicely done. And, your bowl and drapery. So, did you draw it first or just draw and paint with watercolor? Not that it matters, just curious!

Interesting study and excellent result, actually in BOTH versions. How neat that you have such fun, researching and painting, etc. with a fellow artist.
You are brave to do the same thing twice and so quickly in succession. Although I know it would be so beneficial to do it in two diff. mediums, don't think I'd have the discipline to stick to the finish of the second one. Kudos to you for 2 completed works. Good looking pieces---both.
I love the light captured in this painting. A great composition! I do prefer the watercolor version over the oil, although the oil is quite nicely done...painting like Cezanne is pretty good:-)
Gosh Barbara! You are so very good! I know I've said it before but as I scrolled down the page I was just blown away by each piece you've done here. Just amazingly beautiful work!
How fascinating to see the same set-up looking so different yet the same.
The wc version is brighter and more vibrant (could just be how they look on-screen)but I'm more drawn to the oil as there's so much movement and life caught in the brushstrokes. x
