I was pleasantly surprised to learn this week that I won the Wright State University Watercolor Award at the St. Mary's Artfest, a juried show in St. Mary's, Ohio. The painting is the azaleas painting which I have posted in the heading of this blog, and which was painted in March of this year. I also won an Honorable Mention on the painting "Following the Rain" which was also posted recently. Life is good!

Congrats! It's always good to get that reinforcement, isn't it!
Barb, wow that is so great , you know every time I go onto your blog and see that header I love it.. It's so nice to be appreciated...
I must tell you this.. your comment on my colorful Iris, was so right on... You know my usual faire is not as colorful,, every once in a while I do that... and honestly when I was painting it , thats just the way I felt kind of 'colorful' happy, and I almost headed it with the words abstract... You are a Good Judge" lol!
Barb, what great news! Congratulations! These are well-deserved honors.
Deb...yes - it is good to get that reinforcement. I think every artist has doubts - just like looking at that empty white paper when you start a new painting.
Barbra Joan...Thanks for your comment. Your iris is much more abstract than your usual work - and lovely. I love your usual paintings, but this new work is a refreshing take on an iris. It has a very spontaneous appeal.
Christiane - thank you for your encouraging comments!
Very well deserved, Barb! Congratulations my blogging friend!
Congratulations! Beautiful work!
Barb, congratulations on your award! Well deserved. Your florals are awesome.
Thanks for taking time to visit my blog when I have been terribly busy and a poor blog friend. Your comments mean a lot to me.
Super news to hear, Barb! I can always see the merit in anything you have painted of the judges' choice!
Autumn Leaves - you are such a loyal reader of my blog - thank you always for visiting and your positive comments.

Barb
Susan - thanks for visiting my blog - I know that your time is limited right now. I am happy that your d/h is improving and getting on his feet more. Every little bit helps.

I'm not sure I said a hearty congratulations to you, Barb!! But even though it's late, I'm saying it now. I am not at all surprised at your awards - your work is just to beautiful and well done, always...you have an eye for the little details that finish off a painting well.
Rhonda...Thank you so much for the kind, encouraging words. I am attending the awards reception this afternoon - always fun to see the show, visit with old friends, and, of course, to accept awards! Tee Hee
