Lakeside, Ohio - Ohio Plein Air Society Paintout

I had a wonderful weekend painting with the Ohio Plein Air Society at Lakeside, Ohio, on Ohio's north shore of Lake Erie.  Lakeside is a beautiful nostalgic place that transports one back to life in the 1950's.  The adults are friendly, the children courteous and so well behaved...the buildings and cottages picturesque, and the lake totally awesome.  We had beautiful weather, too, except for the intense heat.  Luckily there was a breeze most of the time.
This is an oil painting I painted on Saturday.  It is 14" x 11" and is painted on a stretched canvas.  It is called "The Silly Goose" - the name of the store with the green awnings.

Thanks Christiane and PAMO. I have decided that plein air is not my thing - I can't work quickly enough - I am too anal. :)

And it is beautiful, Barbara! I love the whole nostalgic feel to the piece, in fact! I notice a slightly different style from this piece to the last. Interesting!

This painting just blows me away, Barb. I just lOVE it.
The colors and the composition and even the name!!! I love that you left in the light pole and wires! Perfect. Is this place anywhere near Marblehead? We have friends there.

AutumnLeaves...it is a very nostalgic place - you can't help but become immersed in the atmosphere of the place - it is unique, to say the least. Maybe I was influenced by the atmosphere and the other painters.

Ginny - I am so glad you like the painting. A good painting friend of mine always puts in the wires and poles, and encouraged me to do likewise! It does add a touch, doesn't it?
This place is right next to Marblehead - on the same peninsula. You would love it there.

A very nice, bright taste of Americana :) I was looking for the goose, though - perhaps waddling down the road? ha ha

Rhonda - the only goose I could find was the sign in the window, which I conveniently (for me) left out of the painting! :)
I sure had a good time!

Barb, thanks for your inspiring comments on my baby llama painting. Very much appreciated. In fact, I may get my paper and brushes out tomorrow and see what I can get immersed in. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
This painting is so perfect. Like the angle that you chose, all the colors and all the additions as in the neat flower boxes, the awnings, the sign on the pole, the wires, etc. All create a nostalgic ambiance. I really like the flowers in lower left. Perfect for that otherwise empty corner.
