Three Apples

We spent a couple afternoons doing knife paintings of an apple. My painting buddy Michelle (who is the oil painter), took this picture of our 3 paintings after our first session. The tight one on the left is mine - old habits are hard to break - I am tight even with a painting knife! We had so much fun. This week we are going to be pouring.

A tight watercolorist is just not how I see your work. I seem to recall before I lost your blog (and thankfully found it again) that you had some posts showing some WIPs with pouring. Beautiful, each and every one. I think your work is all exquisite, tight or not!

Barbara, you may see tight, but I see a painting that even from a distance has beautiful highlights and contrasts!
Have fun with your upcoming pours - I am really looking forward to seeing the results. Have fun.

Barbara, I just love the gutsy way you dive into diverse ways to make your mark on the paper.

I have to comment on the beauty of your Bennington Pottery Mugs. Your limited palette and your still life arrangement are most effective. Of course, the fact that they come from my home state of Vermont where I've visited the pottery place many times and own some pieces makes this piece especially meaningful to me.
