The August project for Watercolor Workshop where everyone paints from the same photo is this sea turtle. It was really fun painting it - I did a poured background with Golden fluid acrylics and salt and then finished the painting with watercolors. A cyber-artist friend, Ruth Bodycott, suggested bringing the water in front of the turtle, so I lifted out paint with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and also added some of the turquoise fluid acrylic in front of the turtle and then it really did look like the turtle was in the water. Sea Turtle

Gosh, Barb...I have painted sea turtles a number of times...but this one is superb! I had forgotten about Magic Eraser..thanks for the reminder. It also brought back the memory of a workshop I took from Karlyn Holman. Do you know her work? (see karlynholman.com) She teaches a fun workshop on sea turtles. She plants her sea turtle underwater too, if I remember right, by doing a wash of ultramarine or phalo blue, over portions of the turtle. That works well too. I like your work with the acrylics in this way. Beautiful work!
