This is a small painting (7"x10") that I just painted for the Watercolor Workshop August Challenge theme of things you find at the shore/beach. Well, what we find at the beach are the grandchildren. I took the source photo for this painting last Friday and the boys were very busy creating 'something!' The painting is certainly not one of my best efforts, but I made a promise to myself that I would participate in all the monthly challenges 'come hell or high water' and I notice that the calendar is rapidly approaching the 31st of August - time is running out. The figure on the right is too stiff...(little boys are all angles, elbows and corners - aren't they?) and doesn't look anything like my grandson...oh well!Saturday, August 22, 2009

Hi Barbara , At least you have a painting of your grandchildren. I admire your spunk. Yes, Mary Louise is just one of 3 cats. And they critisize my work by laying on my new art.

Barbra joan...I think it is so wonderful that your cats are art critics! :) I paint my grandchildren often - I think they are the most beautiful models one could have!
Mary...Yes - grandchildren are a blessing - I have the best of both worlds - older grandchildren (24 and 20) and younger (5 and 7) - and luckily they just live around the corner and drop in all the time! I reworked this painting this evening and am a little happier with it. I am going to post it tonight.
