The April theme for the Aquanet watercolor site is "Fog and Rain" so I decided to depict a memory from time spent in the northwoods of Wisconsin. I tried to paint a very wet, soggy drizzly morning. It is 9"x4" and is painted on Arches 140 lb. cold-pressed watercolor paper with mostly Holbein watercolors.

This has all the atmospheric perspective that I love in a painting. I have one drawn on the w/c paper right now that will feature that effect. Hopefully, I can pull it off as well as you have here. Just lovely and calm.
I would love to be able to do this, Barb! I came back to look at it again just for the peacefulness that it brings when I see it. Just lovely.
Susan and Rhonda,
Thanks so much for your comments. Susan, thanks for commenting on the atmospheric perspective as I was really trying for that effect. Rhonda, I hadn't considered peacefulness although I think it is sort of depressing:) It must be that drippy, wet, look. I am glad you liked it well enough to come back to it.
Barb
